PLEASE NOTE!
There is no guarantee on the style/color of frame you will get.
How come?
Because it's more charming and surprising that way - right?
Here is the deal: the portraits absolutely come in neat little ornate frames like the ones you see on the frontpage. It's just the shape and color of the frame that cannot be guaranteed.
To be a bit more specific about the variety of styles of frames I have - there are about 6-7 different shapes - many of which you see on the main page. They are all of that same 'style,' so you're not going to get a nasty surprise of a tinfoil frame or something. There are a few different rectangles, a heart, an oval, and an octagon. Each of these comes in four different colors - brownish-gold-ish, redish- gold-ish, green, and white. Because of the way I have to buy them, it's very hard to keep a specific style or color in stock.
If you click on any of the Series One Puppets, it takes you to a little pop-up that shows the portrait in two potential kinds of frames. Beneath is a very brief decription (more in depth personality analyses are available on the famous myspace), and an indication of what frame(s) you might be likely to expect. Some puppets are much more consistent in their framings than others. For example,Uncle Monsterface almost always appears in a brown-ish or gold-ish oval frame. Whereas Puppyface 5000 varies quite a bit.
The reason for this is that it is very difficult for me to keep all of these different little frames in stock, and still more difficult to allow for specific frame desires. If you come and find me vending in Union Square, you've got a much better chance of picking your frame. If I'm not busy and you ask nicely, I'll even switch up frames for you right there!
So for now and until further notice, I unfortunately can't make any framing guarantees via the web site. I hope and feel that the 'element of surprise' actually makes it kind of fun. Trust at least that I carefully and personally use my judgement on every puppet I frame.
