Performing and props for Muse!
Hi friends,
Team Sock Puppet City has been busy working on a play called Muse! It’s made for neurodivergent young people, and is directed by Sock Puppet City’s other half, Leigh Walter. I’m fabricating props and performing in the play. It’s being produced by a new company called Square Ducks Productions. They’re quacking awesome. - https://squareducksproductions.com/

Making accessible theater for young audiences is a huge passion of ours. In previous years we’ve done a lot of this - you can learn about our play from 2023, ‘A Perfect Party for Trees’ right here.
This show features the work of a pile of talented and lovely humans, including some familiar faces from Perfect Party. The rehearsal process has been a party of its own, and we can’t wait to bring this show to audiences.
Marty’s character goes by the scripted name of Cuchillian, but we call him HONK. Honk only speaks with sounds, and fortunately for us, Marty has a studio filled with toy instruments that he’ll be covered with, ready to honk. And apparently drop a kazoo solo?
The piece features the shadow puppetry of the incredible Andrew Benicasa. Marty jumped off of the idea of cut paper and constructed all of his props out of craft paper.
Doing this kind of work inspires us to come back to Sock Puppet City with joy and inspiration. And if you squint, it’s not too hard to see Marty’s hand in a certain 3-headed dog. It’s giving us ideas!
Come on out, tell a friend, and look forward to more news to come from us on Sock Puppet City, soon. We promise we’ve got some fun new stuff in the pipeline. And if you can’t wait, we promise the olde Shoppe is still open
